Our church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA's motto is "God's Work, Our Hands." At Shepherd of the Valley, we couldn't agree more. That's why we are committed to service. From Christian education events to our church's outreach work, we are always looking for ways to serve our community. If you would like to volunteer to help out at our church, we would be glad to have your help! Below are a few of the opportunities to serve which we currently have.
Anyone can pray! If this is a way you would like to help, it's super easy! If you would like to help in this way, we encourage you to see our prayer list by clicking here. While you are there, you can also sign up for prayer e-mails and to be a member of our telephone prayer chain.
On the second Friday of every month, Shepherd's Kitchen hosts bingo at 3:30 PM followed by a free community meal at 4:30 PM. You can learn more about how you can help as well as who to contact about Shepherd's Kitchen by clicking here.
Our church has a quilting group which comes together to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief to give to those in need around the world. The group meets every other Tuesday to quilt at the church. You can learn more about our LWR quilting group by clicking here.
Barney Bear Ministry
Our church's Barney Bear Ministry always welcomes a helping hand! If you are willing to make bears, we would love to have your help! Additionally, we can always accept donations of material and wire-free ribbon for the bears as well as money to buy those supplies. We also strongly recommend that, if you know someone who could use a bear, that you feel free to take or send them one! If anyone has questions, they can call Dottie Scott at 330.956.5506.
Our prayer shawl group could always use a helping hand! We could always use volunteers to make the shawls by knitting or crocheting. We could also use donations of yarn and money to buy yarn. It takes about a pound of yarn for one shawl, but we can also mix and match yarn! Also, we can use the name of anyone in need of a shawl. If anyone has questions, they can call Dottie Scott at 330.956.5506.
