Regardless of the chaos of the world around us, we hope you can join us this year to experience the joy of Christmas.

It seems as if every year the world around us is more chaotic, be it because of the stress that goes with our lives, all of the turmoil we see on the news at home and abroad, or whatever else may bring us down. This Christmas, we at Shepherd of the Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church invite you to join us as we take the time to help spread joy to a world that needs it, whether you could use some joy yourself or you just want to help others in our community and our world feel the joy of the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Sunday Worship Services in the Advent and Christmas Seasons

Every Sunday at 9:30 AM; sermon, Bible reading, and choir recordings from worship available afterwards on the Shepherdcast

All throughout Advent, and beyond December 25 as we continue into the Christmas season, we invite you to join us for worship, as we celebrate God and all of the joy he brings us! Our services are Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. After the service, you can hear the sermon as delivered by the Reverend Scott J. Anderson, the Bible readings, and select* choir performances from worship on our church’s podcast, the Shepherdcast.

Lunch and Christmas Caroling

Sunday, December 8 following worship and confirmation class (lunch at approximately 11:45 AM, leaving for caroling at approximately 12:30-1:00 PM)

This Advent, we will also be taking the time to go Christmas caroling, as we spread the joy of Christ’s coming birth to our shut-ins. On Sunday, December 8, following worship at 9:30 AM, our youth’s confirmation class immediately after worship, and lunch beginning at approximately 11:45 AM, a group from our church will be going Christmas caroling, hoping to bring joy to our members who cannot join us otherwise. We invite you to join us as we spread the joy of the season through music!

2019 Christmas Cantata: “Song of Joy”

Sunday, December 15 at 6:30 PM, followed by refreshments

The season continues with our choir’s annual cantata on Sunday, December 15 at 6:30 PM. This year, the choir will be performing a cantata entitled “Song of Joy,” which will be followed by refreshments. This is always an event that brings a great deal of joy, so we hope you join us for that! (We have a full invitation for this event as well as both audio and video recordings of last year’s cantata which you can listen to by clicking here.)

Christmas Eve-Eve Candlelight Service

Monday, December 23 at 7 PM

This year, we will be holding our annual Candlelight Service a day before Christmas Eve. On Monday, December 23 at 7 PM, we invite you to join us for worship at the church as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Following the service, it will be posted to the Shepherdcast so that it may also be heard on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day by all, so that this year, our church will be able to deliver the joyous message of Christmas to more people during the Christmas holiday than ever before.

This Christmas, we have a place for you right here. Whether you join us in person this Christmas or you join us through our podcast, the Shepherdcast, we hope that we may help you find the joy of the season this year!
